Indigenous Lands added to Google Maps

Google has added over 3,000 Indigenous Canadian lands to its Google Maps and Google Earth platforms, the result of seven years of collaborative effort between Google Earth Outreach and Indigenous communities. Now, people who visit Google Maps can search for an Indigenous community, such as a reserve, and see an outline of the lands appear on the map. Google is asking people and communities to tell them about lands and locations they believe should be added to the maps. National Aboriginal Day 2017

Today is National Aboriginal Day - a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of Indigenous Peoples. In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice.
